FOOD: L'Artusi

Good food and great conversation makes for the best dinner, and that's what I had at L'Artusi with my friend Karen who I used to intern with in San Francisco. Our dinner started as we walked up the stairs passed the row of perfectly placed candles. It was as though we had entered an upscale Italian bistro right out of a home decorating magazine.

We were greeted with tasty bread and rich olive oil. With so many divine pastas on the menu it was hard to pick just one. I decided on the Cappellacci (summer squash, ricotta, parmesan). It was very decadent and almost tasted like a dessert. Karen ordered Orechiette (sausage ragu, tomato, ceci, radicchio). We basically guessed on what to order because we didn't know what half of the words on the menu meant. But we were both very pleased with our decisions.

The dinner was on the pricer side, at about $16 for a small serving of pasta. But the flavors were so rich I was very content with the size. The bar downstairs was quite crowded and after we left dinner it filled up even more. Located in the West Village, L'Artusi is a hip afterwork drink spot or dinner date.
